Ferny Hill's inaugural Sheepmaster ram sale attracts solid demand

Buyers and onlookers were aplenty for the inaugural Ferny Hill Sheepmaster ram sale, held near Gundagai on October 10.
All 38 rams sold to an $8500 top to average $2664, with local and interstate buyers active.
The top-priced ram, Ferny Hill Hercules 991, sold to Fiona and Darren Cameron, Koonik Sheepmasters, Nurcoung, Victoria.
The ram weighed 102 kilograms at 10 months and scanned an eye muscle area of 35.42 square centimetres.
The couple also bought Ferny Hill Maverick 580 for $7000. The ram, by Monarch, weighed 115kg at 15 months with an EMA of 36.58sq cm.
Both rams would be used as stud sires.
Other stud purchases included Winton Park Sheepmasters, Parkes, who purchased three young sires to average $3083.
Anthong Atlee, Geurie, purchased Ferny Hill 500 for $4000. The Porter family, Westleigh Sheepmasters, Lake Wongan, paid $3000 for a young stud sire.
Ian Kyle, Bairnsdale, Vic, bought a sire for $3250.
There were both new and repeat buyers in the commercial section.
Sue Kominek from Binalong put together a draft of six rams to average $2250. Jason Fulton, Tottenham, bought four rams averaging $2050.
Jengador Pty Ltd, Temora, averaged $3333 for three ram, while first-time buyer Trevor Dodds Engineering, Leeton, averaged $2250.
Aaron and Marg Nicholls, Ferny Hill, were rapt with the sound result and were humbled to see plenty of stud and commercial interest.
