A 100 per cent clearance was achieved by five vendors from central western and western Queensland at the Artesian Droughtmaster Bull Sale at Blackall Saleyards on Monday, September 22.

All 85 lots were sold, up from a 96 per cent clearance last year, with agents reporting a sale record average of $13,235.

In 2024, the auction averaged $10,237.

Needmor Landline was the top-priced bull in 2025, reaching $46,000 after 24 bids, storming to a new record for the sale.

He was sold by Cliff and Sasha Mylrea from Needmor Droughtmasters in Gogango to Len and Sue Bode of Percol Plains, McKinlay.

Boyd Curran of Nutrien Blackal commended the Bode family for their support of the sale and their selection of "four outstanding bulls", which averaged $25,250.

"The Bode family are great judges of high-quality bulls," he said.

The 22-month-old Needmor Landline, sired by Lamont Rebel and out of Needmor Hiccup, was a double polled bull.

He tipped the scales at 840 kilograms, had a 143 square centimetres eye muscle area, a scrotal circumference of 39 centimetres and 5.2 per cent intramuscular fat.

There were two vendors that sold equal second top price, both at $22,000.

Yaralla Faulkner from the McKenzie family sold to the Bode family, and Clonlara 249 from the McCormacks sold to the Stewart-Moore family of Dunluce Grazing, Hughenden.

Mr Curran said the vendors were well rewarded for presenting a great line of bulls.

"It was a record result that was well-deserved for the vendors because they presented an extremely high-quality lineup of bulls that were very consistent, and they had a lot of grunt and power in their bulls," he said.

The Hayes family of Georgina Range Pastoral, operators of The Garden Station near Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, were the top bulk buyer of the day, securing a draft of 19 bulls.

"Andy and his wife Jane drove over from Alice Springs to support the sale and were the volume buyers and purchased an extremely good quality line-up of bulls," Mr Curran said.

"They've been big supporters of this sale for a number of years, and this year they chose to travel over to purchase the bulls in person."

For the past 13 years, sale vendors have donated a portion of proceeds to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. This year's contribution of $3970 brought the total donated to $49,320.
