Borenore's Witton Angus draws new clients at second on-property bull sale

The top-priced bull from Witton Angus is heading to Coonamble after the stud held its second on-property sale at Borenore on September 19.
Witton Bone Crusher U40, by Baldridge Alternative E125 and from a Baldridge Beast Mode B074 descendent, weighed 710 kilograms at 24 months and was knocked down to CG and MA McKeown, Conamble, for $10,000.
Chris McKeown said the bull would be used in a commercial herd run by himself, his wife, and his sons.
Mr McKeown favoured the bull's estimated breeding values, in particular his growth rates.
The bull recorded 200-day, 400-day and 600-day growth of +62, +105 and +139, respectively.
The sale also offered three lots of heifers, all of which were pregnancy-tested-in-calf to Gilmandyke Prime Minister T243.
Two pens of four made $2600 and $2550 a head, respectively, with the final group of five selling for $2500.
At the fall of the hammer, 15 of 29 bulls averaged $5366.
Chris Kingham, Witton Angus, said it was a good result for the operation's second sale and the heifers sold particularly well.
He had received some good feedback since the sale and sold some additional bulls afterwards.
"It's a tough game to be in, we just have to keep getting our names out there, keep our return clients coming back and get more new buyers," he said.
He said the sale would offer up to 45 bulls next year.
The sale was conducted by KMWL with AuctionsPlus providing the online interface.
