Gyranda's Santa sale results in $1.155m gross, bulls bound to multiple states

A two state and Northern Territory buyers panel underpinned a very strong and consistent result at Saturday's annual Gyranda Santa Gertrudis Sale at Theodore.
For vendors Peter and Nikki Mahony, Gyranda stud, the sale produced a bottom-line result where 95 males averaged $12,163 on the way to attaining a gross of $1.155 million and a 99 per cent clearance.
Classified bulls topped at $60,000 while their purebred counterparts hit $16,000.
In a dissection of the offering 68 'S' bulls set a $13,816 average while 27 purebreds came in at a $8000 average.
Last year 93 males averaged $11,892 for a $1.106M gross. Clearance levels came in at 97 per cent clearance at auction. In a further breakdown of the sale, 84 classified 'S' bulls sold to an average of $12,256 ($10,110 in 2023), topping at $44,000 while 11 purebred bulls averaged $9182, reaching a top price of $15,000.
Market setter at $60,000 in 2025 was the 24-month-old, Gyranda Viagra V266.
Ranked in the top 10 per cent for eight indices, Viagra (Rowanlea Rudolph R56) weighed 735 kilograms with an EMA of 124 square centimetres, IMF of 4.5 per cent and P8 and rib fat measurements of 7 and 5 millimetres, respectively.
Securing the bull in a syndicate were the Greenup family, Rosevale stud, Jandowae and the Hasleby family's, Biara stud, Northampton, WA.
Next best at $37,500 was Vincent V296 (Gyranda Shamrock S120) selling to the Landsborough stud, Teroit Station, Winton.
At 25-months the bull ranked in the top 10 per cent across six indexes and weighed 791 kilograms with an EMA of 116 square centimetres, IMF of 4.8 per cent and P8 and rib fat measurements of 11 and 7 millimetres, respectively.
Ken and Margaret Sorensen operate Landsborough stud and at days end secured five head for a $24,900 average.
Lending support in a volume capacity on the day were the Russell family's, Consuelo Cattle Company, Rolleston, taking 10 for a $6700 average.
Basalt Grazing Company, Boremba, Hughenden ending with seven to average $14,000.
The Caskey family, RC Business Pty Ltd., Durella, Morven selecting five for a $8400 average.
Regular supporters the Daley family, Arrabury Pastoral Company, Mt Leonard, Windorah and Cluny Bedourie took three for these properties for a $9667 average.
Garth Christiansen, Christiansen Cattle Company, Campo Santo, Taroom returned selecting a trio for a $10,000 average.
Repeat St George clients, John and Jo Knights, Wooddale, Surat ended their card with eight for a $12,625 average.
These topped at $18,000.
TVF Pastoral Company returned taking five for two destinations for an average $10,000.
Three went to Thalmera, Moura and the remainder going to Glenbar, Theodore.
Ray Rider, Mareva, Moura signed off on four for on average $14,500. These topped at $24,000 on two occasions.
The McIntyre family, Mount View, Theodore picked up four for on average $7500.
Signing off on the same number for a $8500 average was the Knuth family, Saint Pauls Station, Charters Towers.
David and Katie Luke, Lignum Station, Charters Towers also returned selecting four to average them $11,250. These topped at $18,000.
Top selling purebred entry was the last bull to be offered, Gyranda V444 (24-months) (Greenup Pascal P356).
At 686 kilograms the bull sold to Richard and Sarah Cox, Cracow Station, Cracow. Cracow Station ended with two for on average $12,500.
Joanne Russell, Grassbrook, Manilla, New South Wales secured a sole entry, a Gyranda Shamrock S120 son for $25,000.
The Kirkwood family, Disney Station, Clermont returned taking a pair for a $15,000 average which topped at $16,000.
