Santa Central Sale hits $65,000, clearance rate rises by 18 per cent

Classified bulls climbed to $65,000 at Tuesday's annual Santa Central Santa Gertrudis Sale, outside Clifton.

All but four of the 70 classified bulls sold to average $12,977 for a clearance of 94 per cent of the offering.

Average values climbed by $288 per head over the previous year's result.

However, the biggest change was in clearance levels with an 18 per cent rise in that category of the previous corresponding period.

At $65,000 the sale topper was the 22-month-old Glenn Oaks Valentino V722.

Bred and offered by Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Glenn Oaks stud, Nobby, the 844 kg son of Yarrabee Gunyah 1377 posted an eye muscle area of 135 square centimetres, and rib and rump fat measurements of 13 and 9mm respectively.

Taking the sale topper were Luke and Carley Baker, Annabranch stud, Wandoan.

Losing bidders were Cyril and Denise Gauld, Moongana stud, Drillham.

Next best at $52,500 was Kilcock Ugle-Hagen U200.

Offered by the Kilcock stud, Deniliquin, NSW, the 25-month-old, 980 kg son of Aberdeen V34 scanned an EMA of 143sq cm, and rib and rump fat measurements of 9 and 7mm respectively.

Securing the rights to the bull were Scott and Rebecca Dunlop, Dunlop stud, Proston.

Losing bidders on this bull was again Cyril and Denise Gauld, Moongana stud, Drillham.

At $40,000, Diamond H Buckley B279 was sold to the Emerald prefix, Jamar, operated by Tony and Louise Prentice.

Offered by the Hatton family, Diamond H stud, Chinchilla, the 20-month-old son of Santahat Q132 weighed 702 kg with an EMA measurement of 128sq cm, and rib and rump fat measurements of 10 and 7mm.

Cyril and Denise Gauld, Moongana stud, Drillham were again the underbidders on this bull.

Jamar also invested $32,500 in Glenn Oaks Vince V112 (27-months).

Sired by Yarrawonga Katmandu R236 the bull weighed 938 kg and scanned an EMA of 133sq cm, and rib and rump fat measurements of 13 and 8mm respectively.

On the back of their purchases from the previous Elite Female Night Sale, Tom and Anna Dunlop, Munnabah stud, Coolah, NSW claimed the $35,000 Glenn Oaks Vincent V84.

One of the younger bulls on offer, Vincent, at 19 months, weighed 838 kg and scanned an EMA of 137sq cm, and rib and rump fat measurements of 12 and 9mm respectively.

Macarthur Holdings, Kalbar took two for on average $24,000 topping at $30,000 for another of the Yarrawonga Katmandu sons from Glenn Oaks in the form of the 27-month-old, Unicycle U220.

Craig Purtell, Mungindi, New South Wales made his presence felt taking 17 for on average $9470.

The Masterson family, Wyandotte Grazing Company, Wyandotte Station, Greenvale was one of the many repeat buyers signing off on six setting a $8000 average.

Another regular at the sale, Sam and Heather Crowther and family, Harrow Grazing Company, Harrow, Injune took with them another trio on average $13,000.
