New clients encouraging for Almondvale, active across both breeds
While long-term repeat clients were strong during Almondvale's sale, several new buyers active across both the Poll Merino and White Suffolk rams were encouraging for the Urana stud.
At their on-property sale on Friday September 12, the top price of $4000 was reached for Almondvale 526, which sold toChris Bowler, Holbrook.
The twin-born White Suffolk ram weighed 100 kilograms and recorded a fat depth of five millimetres and an eye muscle area of 29.99 square centimetres.
Paul Routley, Almondvale, said he was a stylish and well-balanced ram.
"A very meaty ram with great figures and he'll do the stud job very well," he said.

The second top-priced ram was Almondvale 216, which sold for $3250 to RM Penfold and MJ Dukhoff, Quandialla.
The ram, 102kg, had a fat depth of 5mm and an EMA of 32.19sq cm.
In the Poll Merino draft, the top price was for Almondvale 710, which sold for $2750 to Burrenderry Pastoral Co, Gundagai.
The Almondvale Ambassador 59/20 son, 106kg, had a fibre diameter of 18.6 micron with a comfort factor 99.3 per cent and a greasy wool percentage of 126pc.
He also recorded a fat depth of 4mm and an EMA of 35sq cm.
Buyer David Elworthy said the ram's above-average wool cut attracted him.
"He's a good style of sheep," he said.
Mr Elworthy said the family had been a long-term client at Almondvale, having purchased there for more than 30 years.
Mr Routley said the ram had lovely soft wool on a great body.
"He's very well balanced," he said.
A volume buyer of the sale was Australian Food and Agriculture, Deniliquin, who purchased 40 White Suffolk rams for an average of $1500.
EC and TL Fealy, Urana, purchased 12 White Suffolk rams for an average of $1875.
A and K Emerson, Holbrook, purchased 10 White Suffolk rams to average $1500.
LP and PJ Beer, Deniliquin, took home five White Suffolk and four Poll Merino rams for an average of $1611.
RM Penfold and MJ Dukhoff, Quandialla, purchased eight White Suffolk rams for an average of $2469.
Mr Routley said they were pleased with the sale results, particularly given tough seasonal conditions.
"It was wonderful to see the rams going out to existing and new clients," he said.
"It was encouraging that there were many new clients operating across both breeds."
Overall 111 of 120 White Suffolk rams sold to a top of $4000 and an average of $1734, while 23 of 39 Poll Merinos sold to a top of $2750 and for an average of $1672.
The sale was conducted by Elders and Nutrien Ag Solutions, with Ryan Bajada, Elders, and Peter Cabot, Nutrien, sharing the rostrum.
