There may have only been four entries in the Dexter judging but they travelled almost a 1000 kilometres to be there.

After an absence of a decade, breeders Louise Ball and Don Hearne, Carragheen, Cootamundra, NSW brought two females and two males over for judging.

Their grand champion bull was shown in the senior bull section and at just over four years old it weighed 582 kilograms.

Carragheen Serendipity was out of Copper Head Mistletoe and sired by Caragheen L'Egoiste.

"When you look at this senior bull, he's a ripper, with plenty of width," judge Jordan Richards said.

An entry bred solely by Mr Hearne - Mijota Park Vittoria - won junior champion bull.

The nine-month-old bull weighed 268kg and was out of Carragheen Tatiana and sired by Carragheen Usher.

Mr Richards said it was smooth through the shoulder, with good softness, and an all-around credit to the breeder.

The judge said both bulls had a lot of stretch and plenty of meat to them.

With the females, the senior exhibit went on to be named grand champion.

Carragheen Up 'N' Coming was out of Carragheen Japonica and sired by Carragheen Serendipity.

"When you get behind her, she's got plenty of width and I really admire that," Mr Richards said.

"Then when you get in front of her, she's got good square shoulders."

The junior champion heifer was named Dun 'N' Rusted Vixen, from Don Hearne.

It was out of Carragheen Roxanne and sired by Caragheen Tobias.

"She stands square and is a credit to her breeder," he said.
