The Blenkiron family, Gumshire stud, Keyneton, continued their dominance in the Large White judging, with their boar being named best of breed.

Gumshire Hot Test R583 had won both junior and champion boar before going on to be named best of breed.

Judge John Singh, Bangalow, NSW, said there was plenty to like about the best of breed exhibit.

"The Large White boar is an outstanding pig," he said.

"He's got the hams, he's got the muscle you want. He really deserved to be first. The breeders have done a great job."

The best of breed was sired by Gumshire Hot Test K1570 and out of Gumshire Jeweless N1166.

It weighed 105.5 kilograms at 139 days of age, with an average daily weight gain of 759 grams and fat score of 10 millimetres.

Coming reserve to the best of breed in the champion boar judging was Aroora Giant R981, from the Davis family, Aroora Enterprises, Murray Bridge.

Giant R981 was sired by Aroora Giant N6672 and out of Aroora Parthenia N7081.

It weighed 110kg at 133 days of age, with average daily weight gain of 827 grams and fat score of 10mm.

Ray Rudiger, Yarac stud, Karoonda, hadn't exhibited at Adelaide for close to a decade but he had success in the Landrace and Large White judging.

Mr Rudiger's workman Josh Porker was the driver behind Yarac's show return.

After working for Mr Rudiger for the past year and a half, Mr Porker was keen to try showing pigs at Adelaide, after gaining experience in showing steers and goats during his time at Karoonda Area School.

Yarac's Mona Lisa R172 won junior and champion in the sow section.

Sired by Aroora Gladiator 6435 and out of Yarac Mona Lisa, it weighed 111kg at 158 days of age, for average daily weight gain of 700 grams and fat score of 12mm.

The reserves to Yarac's sows went to Gumshire with Queen Mary R952.

Sired by Gumshire Louis N1002 and out of Gumshire Queen Mary M3149, the sow weighed 101.5kg at 136 days of age, with average daily weight gain of 746 grams and fat score of 10mm.
