A Queensland bull who won the most prestigious award at the Sydney Royal Show earlier this year has sold for what is believed to be a new breed record.

Elite Uproar was knocked down for $67,500 to Omega Cattle Co, Alpha at the Meandarra on-property bull sale for Glen Waldron and Kim Groner of Elite Cattle Company on Thursday, September 4.

It marked a new breed record for a black Simmental bull, believed to have previously been held by Woonallee Toronto T274, who sold for $55,000 in 2023.

Elite Uproar was only 16 months of age when he won the Urquhart Trophy for the supreme beef exhibit at the Sydney Royal Show on April 14 this year.

He was by Elite Quittin' Time and from Elite Flirtin For Diamonds N111 and was labelled one of the best bulls ever bred by Elite.

The couple would have retained the bull, they said in their catalogue description, had they not still been using his sire extensively in the herd.

He was 20 months at the time of sale and boasted a 145 square centimetre eye muscle area and an impressive 97 per cent morphology semen result.

GDL auctioneer Josh Heck labelled him one of the squarest bulls he'd had the privilege to sell.

The underbidder was an online buyer from Emerald.
