Buyers target conformation and performance at Bindaree and Nundoone sale

Buyers sought confirmation, depth and frameat the Bindaree and Nundoone Border Leicester sale, held on-property at Pinehurst, near Merrygoen, on September 3.
All up, all four stud rams sold to a top price of $4500, twice, to average $3750, while 95 of 100 flock rams hit $2800 to average $1433.
Brett Wilson, Girrahween, Coonamble, secured the first sale topper, Nundoone N240011, for $4500.
Sired by Bindaree 190126 and out of Nundoone 220204, the 105-kilogram twin had Australian sheep breeding values (ASBVs) of +4.71 post weaning weight, +0.03 birth weight and +0.14 eye muscle depth.
The return client, who operates a mixed livestock and cropping farm, has used Nundoone genetics for more than two decades.
He sought an even ram with a low birthweight and high growth.
Managing both Border Leicester and Merino sheep, he will put the ram over about 300 Border Leicester ewes.

Toni and Derek Treanor, Kildara Glen Meat Sheep studs, Millah Murrah, secured Nundoone N240015 for $4500.
Son of Bindaree 190126 and out of Nundoone 200011, the 104kg twin had ASBVs of +4.84 PWT, -0.10 EMD and +0.36 intramuscular fat.
Wool coverage, bone and conformation were top of the list for Mr and Mrs Treanor.
"He is the complete package with good eyes, nose and feet," Mrs Treanor said.
While the couple has previously bought Nundoone ewes, the purchase marked their first ram.
They operate Border Leicester, Poll Dorset, Australian White and Shorthorn studs with a focus on structure and carcase.
The top ram will be used in the Border Leicester stud over about 50 specially selected ewes.
Volume buyer Trent Heckendorf, Auburn, Auburn Farming, Trangie, secured 19 rams to a top of $1600 to average $1231.
Mr Heckendorf, who runs a dryland cropping, sheep and cattle operation, selected his draft for frame, wool, bone, and conformation, with a particular focus on twin-born rams.
They will be joined to a 3500-head Merino ewe base, mainly Kerin Poll blood, in the beginning of October for six weeks.
Bindaree stud co-principal Reg Sweeny welcomed the result, noting the solid support from long-term clients.
Ken and Brenda Rawling, Charleville, Merrygoen, purchased three rams to average $2133.
Jason Brien, Wellington, secured six rams to average $1633.
Noan Pastoral Co, Tooraweenah, bought six rams to average $1483.
Bellair Pastoral Co, Nyngan, purchased 12 rams to average $1383.
Australian Food and Agriculture, Wingadee Station, Coonamble, secured 12 rams to average $1216.
Milling Stuart Pty Ltd, Dunedoo, conducted the sale with Angus Stuart as auctioneer.
