RR Endeavour 9005, S Chisum 255 sons in demand at Redbank's third annual sale

It was a triple-treat for the Connolly family of Redbank Angus during their third annual bull sale held at Pine Park on Friday, with three bulls equalling the top price of $14,000.
Overall 36 bulls sold of the 37 offered, resulting in a $14,000 top, three times, and $8389 average. This was on par with their 2024 sale results.
The first sons of RR Endeavour 9005 offered by the Redbank stud were in demand for their good spread of data, with the first two to go under the hammer commanding the equal top price of $14,000.
Redbank Endeavor V74 was knocked down to repeat buyers South Coast Livestock, Bega.
At 19 months of age, he was out of Redbank Right Direction S31, a EF Complement 8088 daughter, and weighed in at 740 kilograms with a 42 centimetre scrotal circumference.
He had estimated breeding values (EBVs) ranked in the top 10 per cent of the breed for calving ease direct and mature cow weight, top 15pc for birth weight and scrotal size, and top 20pc for 200-day weight and mature body condition.
John Burbidge and Aaron Whiffen from South Coast Livestock, who run around 50 breeders and also have a Speckle Park stud, said he stood out for his confirmation and overall outlook.
"We liked his genetics, and calving ease in particular," Aaron said.
Also making the equal top price of $14,000 was Redbank Endeavour V35 purchased online through AuctionsPlus by Elders Holbrook.
Also by RR Endeavor 9005, and out of the Thomas Up River 1614 daughter in Redbank Jane P49, he weighed 691kg with a scrotum measurement of 38.5cm.
With a good spread of data, he ranked 5pc for milk, calving ease daughters and gestation length, top 10pc for birthweight and top 20pc for 400- and 600-day weights, scrotal size and eye muscle area.
The third to hit the $14,000 mark was Redbank Chisum U201 purchased by McIntosh Pastoral, Dunns Plains, Rockley.
Sired by S Chisum 255 and out of Redbank Dream L15, a BT Right Time 24J daughter, he weighed 978 kilograms with a 42cm scrotal circumference, and boasted a figures in the top 10pc of the breed for docility and rib fat, and top 20pc for calving ease daughters, days to calving and rump fat.
Acting on behalf of the buyers was Michael Pratten, Elders Emms Mooney, Molong, who said his client was looking for good temperament, feet, and phenotype.
"They [McIntosh Pastoral] run an all commercial Angus cow herd and target either the weaner of feeder market," Mr Pratten said.
"They were happy with their purchase last year, and the bulls this year were extremely quiet and well presented, offering good value in the rising cattle market.
"The (equal) top-priced bull had doability, good feet, temperament and his phenotype was perfect."
In total, McIntosh Pastoral purchased three sons of S Chisum 255 to average $8667 across the draft.
T Mendham Contracting Service Pty Ltd, Barry, returned to once again be the largest volume buyers taking home seven bulls to a top of $11,000 and average of $7714.
Victorian-based buyers Warren and Charlize Fairbairn of JC, PG and WJC Fairbairn, Coleraine, attended the sale for the first time to purchase two bulls at an average of $10,500, to top at $12,000 for the lead lot in the sale, Rebank New Ground U168.
Redbank's Shaun Connolly said they were happy to have repeat buyers accompanied by new people coming to look and buy from the local area as well as interstate.
The sale was conducted by Elders Emms Mooney with Liam Murphy taking bids as the auctioneer.
