Torrential rain no obstacle to total clearance at 3R Livestock bull sale

There was plenty of noise at the annual 3R Livestock bull sale on Wednesday, August 20, between the torrential rain beating the sale barn roof and auctioneer Paul Dooley's gavel slamming down.
There was a total clearance while the atmosphere gave attendees the true meaning of what a stud sale in the north west can offer.
With Goonoo Goonoo Station, near Tamworth, in the background, the stage was set after an honest season and a newly-built sale complex.
All 47 Angus bulls sold to a top of $40,000 for a $13,894 average.
At the conclusion, three from three embryo packages sold to a top of $20,000 and averaged $1341 per embryo.
More than 50 registered bidders packed out the sale barn.
Successful buyers represented Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and NSW.

Results were up from last year's $11,812 average when 45 from 48 Angus bulls were sold.
Top-priced sire, 3RLS Blueprint V045, sold for $40,000 to Boonaroo Angus, Casterton, Victoria.
The 652-kilogram, 15-month-old Angus sire tested in the top one per cent for claw structure, 3pc for foot, 7pc for 200-day weight for the breed and registered a 41-centimetre scrotal.
Volume buyer Yo-Yo Trading Company from Clara Creek, Qld, rounded out their draft with four bulls to average $14,000.
Culgai Pty Ltd, Nundle, purchased three bulls for a $17,666 average and was the successful purchaser of the second top-priced bull.
3RLS Benchmark U177 sold for $38,000 and tested in the top 4pc for 600-day weight, 6pc for 400-day weight and 8pc for mature cow weight.
The sale was covered by Elders, Tamworth, with Paul Dooley as the auctioneer.
