Glenn Oaks Palo progeny attracted solid interest from interstate and western NSW buyers at the Glenalbyn and Munnabah bull sale, held near Wellington.

The attention follows the $70,000 private sale of his son, Glenalbyn Umpire U968, announced at Sydney Royal earlier this year.

Western Australian buyers Matt and Mel Leeds, Three Sons, Moora, secured the top-priced bull, Munnabah Stetson 1880, for $22,000.

Son of Glenn Oaks Palo P1211 and from Munnabah 1111, the 23-month-old bull weighed 875 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 40 centimetres and daily weight growth of 1.18kg.

He scanned 16 millimetres and 25mm over the rib and rump, respectively, along with 132 square centimetres eye muscle area and 7.3 per cent intramuscular fat.

Santa Gertrudis Australia field officer Russel Yeates bid on behalf of the first-time buyers.

"Matt and Mel were looking for a bull with a good red coat, plenty of growth and natural thickness," he said.

"[Stetson's] style and growth will complement the stud, and his raw data set is pretty impressive in his fat figures, especially EMA and IMF.

"He has great evenness and is the complete package."

Mr Yeates said the bull will be used through the stud operation on a single sire herd once he makes the journey west.

MB McKinnon and Company, Yarrawin, Brewarrina, bought the second top-priced bull, Munnabah 1886, for $19,000.

Also sired by Glenn Oaks Palo P1211 and from Munnabah P2021, the 23-month-old weighed 922kg with a 42cm scrotal circumference, 1.29kg DWG, 10mm rib fat, 13mm rump fat, 146sq cm EMA, and 5.6pc IMF.

The same buyer also bought 22-month-old Munnabah 1890 for $8000.

Glenalbyn Unique U961 was knocked down to RD and WA Baker, Chambers Flat, Queensland, for $16,000.

Another son of Glenn Oaks Palo P1211 and from Glenalbyn Passionate P737, the 28-month-old weighed 955kg with a 44cm scrotal circumference, 1.06kg DWG, 12mm rib fat, 18mm rump fat, 138sq cm EMA, and 6pc IMF.

Volume buyer Robyn and Gerard Dunn, Megine, Roma, Qld, bought a draft of six Munnabah bulls to a top of $13,000 to average $7833.

The returning buyers credited the quality and performance of last year's bulls for bringing them back this year

"We wanted fleshing bulls with good weight for age, and we're conscious of EMA and IMF figures, " said Mrs Dunn.

Mrs Dunn said the family operation targets the EU market, grain-finishing Santa Gertrudis and Santa Gertrudis/Angus cattle across two properties.

The draft will be joined to about 1000 breeders in October.

Munnabah's Tom Dunlop acknowledged the strong support from new and returning clients at the sale.

Horne and Company, Old Castle, Leadville, secured Munnabah Spartacus 1888 for $15,000.

Mark and Sally Dent, Cobbora Station, Dunedoo, bought two bulls to average $12,000.

All up, 25 of 36 bulls averaged $9680. A further six bulls were sold immediately after the sale.

Elders conducted the sale with Scott Cooper, Elders studstock, as auctioneer. AuctionsPlus provided the online interface.
