Before stepping out into the ring with her Limousin bull, Cassie Coombe, Cassalee Limousins, Camden, NSW, was hoping for a win, but indicated she'd be happy with any ribbon.

After driving her single entry, Cassalee Unfinished Business, 1200km to Queensland eight weeks ago for preparations with Leegra Fitting Service, Silverleaf, the pair made their debut appearance at the Royal Queensland Show on Saturday, August 9.

Cassalee Unfinished Business, a 28-month-old polled bull, sired by Morrisvale Quad Runner and out of Cassalee Peek A Boo, was up with a chance, having won the title of senior champion Limousin bull at the Sydney Royal Easter Show earlier this year in April.

Alas, the competition was too strong.

Ms Coombe purchased the sire, Morrisvale Quad Runner, from WA a couple of years ago and believes Unfinished Business was one of the best bulls she had ever bred.

Having shown cattle since her teens, the 34-year-old said this was Unfinished Business' fourth royal show, but their first Royal Queensland Show.

Ms Coombe flew up to Brisbane to lead the bull herself.

"He's very sound...but I'm just a bit biased. He's also very quiet, he's just like a giant grass puppy," she said.

"It's obviously a lot of time and money (to exhibit)...it's a lot of research too, with your genetics and a lot of luck to be honest, on the day, that and the breeding too.

"I guess sometimes you think you've got the right mix and it doesn't necessarily always pay off."

Ms Coombe said the Queensland show was very different and a lot more laidback than the Sydney Royal, where she had 10 entries this year.

But she said she had enjoyed it and would return if she had an animal good enough to enter.

"But when it'll be, I don't know," she said.
