Downs stud takes out big three titles in Red Angus ring at Royal Qld Show

A passionate Red Angus breeder will be going home with not one, but three major awards from the 2025 Royal Queensland Show, after dominating the ring on Saturday, August 9.
Exhibitor Kirrily Johnson-Iseppi, GK Livestock, St Ruth, took out grand champion bull with GK NCJ Red Valyrian V1, grand champion female with GK Red Cherok M17 T15 GK T15, and also won the breeder group competition.
Grand champion bull, GK NCJ Red Valyrian V1, was sired by Red Wheel Stark 67G and out of Triple M Morojitti R12.
The 19-month-old-bull weighed in at 840kg, had an eye muscle area of 125 square centimetres, 13mm of rump fat, and 9mm of rib fat.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi owns the bull with her father, Clyde Johnson.
Judge Jack Laurie, a sixth-generation cattle producer from Knowla Livestock in Gloucester, NSW, praised the bull for his clean front end, the length through his neck, and his overall sirability.
He will be offered for sale at the Power of Red Sale, which will be held on Saturday, September 6, in Toowoomba.

Grand champion cow GK Red Cherok M17 T15 entered the ring with her bull calf at foot.
The 34-month-old cow was sired by Rosemullion Red Magellan and out of GK Red Cherok 111 Q2.
She was praised by Mr Laurie for her functionality, while he also commended the structure of her calf.
The cow will be returning home after the show, where her calf will be weaned.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi felt pretty excited about the day's results.
"It's nice to be able to take out the double when you breed, and it's a really nice surprise," she said.
This year's show was very successful for Ms Johnson-Iseppi, with her daughter Brooke also taking out grand champion cow in the Simmental ring earlier in the week.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi said she enjoyed showing as it was an opportunity to showcase the Red Angus breed, of which she was extremely passionate about.
"I always had a passion for Angus cattle," she said.
"I grew up with British breeds out west, and really liked the Angus, but just went for the Red Angus because of their heat resistance and fly tolerance."
