The opening lot at the 2025 Clunie Range Angus bull sale has fetched a huge price today, Friday, August 1, on-property at Springfield, Wallangra.

Clunie Range Untouchable U441, a 30-month-old who had been used by the stud, such was the high regard they had for him, kicked off the sale with a bang when he sold for $300,000.

The 902-kilogram bull, Clunie Range Plantation P392 and out of Clunie Range Barunah Q309, sold to the Five Way Syndicate, Victoria.

Clunie Range Untouchable U441 had a number of top estimated breeding values, including +4.6 scrotal size, which sat in the top three per cent of the breed.

The bull also displayed growth EBVs of +61 200-day, +110 400-day and +140 600-day weights, but it was his type and breeding that Clunie Range believed would make him a genuine stud sire.

"We have used U441 heavier than any bull to date as we have such a high opinion of his data and his phenotype," the catalogue said.

"His highly regarded sire, Plantation P392 has been widely used across Australia, and we have used multiple Plantation sons in our own herd.

"In our opinion, this son U441 is a better bull in every facet."

Just after one hour and nine minutes of selling, all bulls had been cleared, and were setting an average of $24,461.

There was about 170 people connected to the online stream at that time.

Full report to come.
