The fourth on-property bull sale of Bungulla and Nagol Park Shorthorn has resulted in the top-priced bull from the sale finding a new home at a well-known stud within the industry.

The sale, on Wednesday, July 23, topped at $18,000 for a $7375 average, with 32 of 47 Shorthorn bulls sold under the hammer.

The top-priced bull from the sale, Bungulla Quintrex U239, went to Weebollabolla Shorthorns, Moree.

The two-year-old roan bull weighed 975 kilograms, had a 24 millimetre rib fat and 134 centimetres squared eye muscle area.

Semen was retained by Bungulla with the bull described as having "great length and depth of body paired with smooth inlayed shoulders" within the sale catalogue.

"He covered all the basis with what we were looking to inject into our program," Weebollabolla stud manager David Eldridge said.

The sale offered bulls from multiple vendors - Roger and Niaomi Evans of Nagol Park, in conjunction with sons Logan and Josh Evans from Howzat and JJ Shorthorns, selling four from 10 bulls for an $6000 average, while Peter and Lou Capel of Bungulla sold 27 from 36 bulls to average $7629.

Results were similar to last year, when 31 from 45 bulls sold for an $8000 average and a $20,000 top.

The sale had more than 30 registered bidders with at least 15 buyers successfully buying at least one bull.

Volume buyer Nutrien Blackall, Queensland, purchased five bulls for a $6400 average.

Repeat local buyer Tucka Farming, Manilla, bought six bulls for an average $6500 while Ben Swain, Gunnedah, completed his draft with three bulls for an average $9333.

Elders Tamworth covered the sale with Paul Dooley the guest auctioneer.
