Hardigreen Park sells entire breeding herd to well-known Santa stud

In a surprise announcement this week, it has been revealed that the Hardigreen Park Santa Gertrudis stud has been sold in its entirety.

The entire registered herd of Santa Gertrudis cattle has been acquired in a private negotiated settlement by the Yulgilbar Pastoral Company (under the ownership of the Myer family), Baryugil, NSW.

The sale of the Hardigreen Park herd brings to an end a breeding chapter of over 50 years by its former principals and owners, the late Moreton and Frances Rolfe.

The forthcoming Hardigreen Park and Brookside Bull and Female Sale will still proceed as planned on Wednesday, August 20 at Hardigreen Park, Wallabadah, NSW commencing at 10am.

These co vendors will also proceed with their annual open day on August 2 to be staged at the same venue from 10am until 3pm.

Hardigreen Park stud was registered as Stud 814 by Moreton and Frances Rolfe in 1972.

Originally situated at Mittagong, NSW the prefix was relocated to its present home south of Tamworth in 1979.

Further expansions occurred in 1987 with the purchase of Santa Vale, Woolomin and a neighbouring property to Santa Vale in 2003.

The genetic assets involved in the sale include all breeding sires, the entire female herd and young sire aspirants.

The transaction does not include the Hardigreen prefix, and the amount paid by the purchasers remains confidential with no agent involved in the transaction.

The Yulgilbar stud is registered as Stud 13 and was founded in 1954 by the late Sam Hordern.

It's the third oldest Santa Gertrudis stud operation in Australia and the largest Santa Gertrudis herd in NSW.
