Swanbrook Angus stud offers a compelling package for breeders and commercial producers seeking top-tier Angus bulls.

Combine decades of breeding experience, a herd selected on robust fertility and temperament, through a commercial lens, and you'll understand why the Swanbrook Angus genetics are performing so well for their clients.

Swanbrook Angus stud principal Glynis Turner said her family is proud of the many successes their long-term clients have achieved utilising the Swanbrook genetics in their own breeding programs.

The Inverell and Glen Innes weaner sales throughout April and May prompted some great sale results.

Mrs Turner said the Fomiatti family from Valtellina Angus have been purchasing Swanbrook Angus bulls for over 15 years, and this year, Valtellina Angus heifers (by Swanbrook Angus bulls), sold to $1224 for 335.5 kilograms at 365c/kg at the April Inverell weaner sale.

At the Glen Innes May weaner sale, John Riches had great success with Swanbrook-blood steers, receiving champion pen of Angus steers, the steers weighed in at 339kg to sell for 456c/kg or $1545.

Last year Swanbrook Angus competed in the Bindaree Beef and Colin Say and Co Inverell Feedlot Trial and Carcase Competition.

Mrs Turner said the commercial steers came away with pleasing results. The Swanbrook Angus commercial steers were first place in their class and achieved the overall champion individual weight gain.

They also received second and fourth place in the overall group competition and won the overall individual grand champion in the field of 185 steers and 37 groups.

"The competition allowed us to benchmark the performance of our cattle in a feedlot environment as well as receive valuable carcase feedback," Mrs Turner said.

For more than 25 years, Glynis and Brian Turner have been breeding premium Angus bulls, which are known for their fertility, docility, and doing ability.

Alongside their stud, they operate a commercial breeding program; each year, 1000 females are joined, of which 600 are registered Angus females. The stud and commercial cattle are run together under the same conditions.

"Cows and calves live in a commercial reality, and this identifies the best doers in the real world.

"Our breeding philosophy prioritises temperament, growth, and fertility - ensuring the bulls are easy to handle, perform consistently, and pass on strong genetic traits.

"Each bull is meticulously selected for proven growth rates, reproductive performance, and temperament, making them ideally suited for stud breeders and commercial beef operations."

Mrs Turner said the bulls catalogued for this year's sale reflect a high proportion of Swanbrook Angus sires as well as AI sires including Alpine Real Deal, Chiltern Park Quantum, and Baldridge Goalkeeper.

"Our own sires have really stood out this year when we selected our top 50, which I think really reflects the depth of breeding and the capacity of our female line. Particularly Swanbrook Q33 which has 14 sons catalogued in the sale, many with growth figures in the top one to five per cent of the breed.

"We're proud of the quality on offer at this year's Swanbrook Angus Bull Sale."

The sale will be held on-property at Marble Hall, 50 Princes Lane, Long Plain NSW 2360, on August 2, with the auction commencing at 11am, interfaced with AuctionsPlus. After the sale, enjoy a lunch hosted by the Turner family, barista-made coffee, and cakes.

Swanbrook Angus bulls are grown out on native pastures and are finished on improved pastures and an oats crop.

"It's been a good season with ample rain, and that's really been reflected in the bulls this year. They are heavier, presenting extremely well, and have been fed under strong commercial conditions."

Mrs Turner said the bulls will be presented in an ideal joining condition.

"Our bulls are not overfed. They are offered ready for work, which ensures they offer longevity and performance in the field.

"The support of our local vets, Inverell Vet Clinic, means that our bulls are kept to a high fertility standard, and that they're semen tested for crush side assessment and full morphology."

Prospective buyers are invited to the Swanbrook Angus open day on Wednesday, July 30. The 11th annual bull sale will be conducted by Colin Say and Co on Saturday, August 2, at 11am on property and online, interfaced with AuctionsPlus.
