Red and white heifer dazzles judges to take out junior title at Bendigo

A Red and White Holstein heifer dazzled judges to take out the junior supreme title at the Victorian Winter Fair in Bendigo this week.
The heifer, exhibit 24, Impression Jealous of My Latenite, was owned by Mitch and Lindsey Flemming, Impression Jerseys and Holsteins, Maffra.
The October 2024-drop show winner was sired by Avante-Garde-l Latenite and out of MS Awesome Jealousy.
Mr Flemming said the heifer came from an embryo imported from Josh Skipton and Hannah Smith, Maryland, US.
He said he was "absolutely" delighted with the junior supreme sash win.
"It was her overall balance, dairy quality and frame," he said.
Mr Flemming said the heifer had demonstrated great potential as a future cow.
"She has a beautiful dairy strength and beautiful side profile to her frame that will hold her in good stead going forward," he said.
Judge Lisa McKay, Irrewillipe, described the junior supreme champion as "very dairy and feminine".
"She had a lot of depth of rib for her age and more importantly, a really nice square frame and a little bit of uphill run, which gave her a lot of style," she said.
"She was just a really correct heifer."
Ms McKay said she would like to think the heifer would go on to win ribbons as a cow in future.
"I particularly look for things like width through their front end and a bit of power so they have the ability to develop," she said.
"I would like to hope that she's a cow that will continue to develop and mature."
The reserve junior champion at the show was exhibit 100, Elm Banks Master Lass, owned by BK Farming.
An honourable mention was awarded to exhibit 109, Eastview EB Chief A Bonnie.
The heifer was owned by Eastview Holsteins, Congupna, and Elm Banks Holsteins, Crossley.
The junior supreme championship was judged on Wednesday, ahead of the sashing of the show's supreme intermediate and supreme senior champions on Thursday.
