The interbreed supreme champion male and female at this year's Rockhampton Show are off to the big smoke in August to compete for a win at the Ekka.

Taking out the supreme champion male was Mianna Mr Rubble, Mianna Brahmans, Rockhampton, while Glenlands J Elegance, Glenlands J Droughtmasters, Dingo, took the title of grand champion female, from 187 entries.

The 21-month-old double polled bull, Mianna Mr Rubble, was sired by Glen Oak Mr Frodo and was out of Droonoodoo Jade.

Mitchell Redding, Mianna Brahmans, said taking out the supreme bull title at the Rockhampton Show was the pinnacle of he and his wife, Hanna's, showing career so far.

"It really sets a little stud like us apart today and it's just nice to see all the hard work is starting to pay off," he said.

Following the win, Mr Redding said they might have to rethink their decision to sell the bull at this year's Brahman Week.

"Between now and then, there's a bit of time to ponder on, but it certainly gives us a bit of a headache, that's for sure, but it's a headache worth having," he said.

Judge Letitia Nicolle, Nioka Brahmans, Biloela, said the supreme champion bull was so balanced.

"He's so smooth, he's very structurally correct, over the tail set...especially through those back legs, on his pasterns, the tail set, all that, I feel, got him over the Droughtmaster bull," she said.

"He's nothing extreme, he hasn't got an extreme muscle definition, he's not really exceptionally heavy boned, but he's really going to be an exceptional bull for female production down the track," she said.

Jason Childs, Glenlands J Droughtmaster stud, Dingo, said it meant a great deal to them that their 43-month-old cow, Glenlands J Elegance, and her calf had won in Rockhampton and done as well as she had across all the shows she had competed at this year.

"We've used her in our IVF program, so we will have some calves on the way this year, hopefully, to replicate what she is and what her calf is," he said.

So far this year, Glenlands J Elegance, who was sired by Medway Utopia and was out of Glenlands J 14318, has picked up blue ribbons at Alpha, Clermont and Baralaba.

Mr Childs said he did not think she had been beaten for senior champion female at any show where she had competed this year.

Judge Cherie Gooding, Marlegoo Charbrays, Byfield, agreed, saying Elegance and her calf were "just a really easy doing pair".

"They're a pigeon pair...the mother and calf are very, very similar, she's throwing true to type," she said.

"She's just a beautiful capacity female, as is her progeny."

The interbreed supreme breeders group was won by Raglan Brahmans, Raglan.
