A record price has been paid at the Gympie Brahman Female Sale in its 50th year.

Royce and Beryl Sommerfeld's Brahrock Miss Talla Lady 7540 from Maryborough sold for $62,000 to the Vollmerhausen family, Rockstar Brahmans, Theebine, around midday on Saturday, June 7.

The price exceeded the previous record of $57,500 set last year.

The 16-month-old female was the first release of Lancefield S Talladega 5282/1 and out of NCC Nova 5624.

Bidding opened at $10,000, such was the interest in the female with a final bidding war ensuing between the Vollmerhausens and Greengrass Investments, Charters Towers.

It capped off a special sale for Mr Sommerfeld, who was also given a life membership to the Brahman breed before the sale proceedings kicked off.

Full report to come.
