Record six figure price paid for six-year-old mare at Nutrien Supreme

Records were broken at the Nutrien Supreme Sale held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds over the weekend as confidence in the performance horse industry was reflected.
The top-priced sale horse saw spirited bidding for the ridden lot 455, Petes Pet Squirrel, on behalf of the Koobah Performance Horses, Tamworth, NSW, that opened with a bid of $100,000 and was later secured for the record price of $150,000.
The six-year-old mare sired by Seligman Spin and out of One Hellofa Time, bred by the late Peter and Debbie Gesler, offered a lifetime earnings of $60,000 in multiple disciplines and was secured by Ringers Western.
The mare was trained, campaigned and presented by Mark Buttsworth.
By Monday afternoon, the sale saw 315 of 399 sold for a 78.95 per cent clearance and average of $17,443.
In comparison, last year 285 of 348 lots sold for a clearance of 82 per cent and an average of $15,192.
