Unicorn wins Monto stud cattle, Proston family dominates prime section

Eidsvold seedstock exhibitors and Proston commercial beef producers took some of the major spoils on offer at the Monto Show on April 26 and 27.

The stud cattle competition was judged by Ben Adams of Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis, Taroom while Barry McIntrye, Nolans Meats, Gympie and associate Grace Ogle, Monto were tasked with sorting through the prime cattle.

A total of 105 head from 16 exhibitors, representing 67 nominations across 18 classes, were entered in the prime section with around 100 head in the stud section.

Stud cattle results

Junior and grand champion male: SantaHat Venom (Santa Gertrudis), exhibited by SantaHat Santa Gertrudis, Eidsvold. Reserve: Rangeview Unbelievable (Charbray), exhibited by Rangeview Charbrays, Monto.

Senior champion male: Redline Valentine (Red Brangus), exhibited by the Dingle family, Eidsvold. Reserve: Raglan Arnie (Brahman), exhibited by Raglan Brahmans, Raglan.

Junior champion female: Rangeview Vicky (Charbray), exhibited by Rangeview Charbrays, Monto. Reserve: Abernethy Tippsy (Braford), exhibited by the Kenny family, Gayndah.
