Ussain, the bolter from Singleton and family favourite for the Gardners

How would it feel to have the family pet, a nearly 1200kg Charolais bull, to be declared the best of his breed in the state's premier show ring?
Celebrating the trifecta of broad ribbons on the weekend were the Gardners of Glendon via Singleton, which their bull, Tallimba Ussain won.
The win's popularity was endorsed by the hoots and yips of acclamation from a large portion of the crowd watching the events unfold.
Ussain was calved in April 2023, and just 11 days shy of its second birthday, it caught Sydney Royal's Charolais judge Ben Crowley's eye, selecting the bull as senior and grand champion bull and in the final Charolais class of the day, the best exhibit.
Luke and Leigha Gardner, sons William and Lachlan, and Luke's sister, Geneva Gardner, were delighted with the gentle giant's progress.
Sired by JWX Silver Bullet 524W, the poll bull weighed 1050 kilogram and had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 145 square centimetres with 13 millimetres of rump fat and 10mm on the rib.
"You would struggle to find a bull to beat him; he had fantastic red meat," Mr Crowley said.
"The overall structural conformation is what got him there.
"He's beautiful through that front end, a lovely, laid-in shoulder, and when you get behind him, he's got enough yield potential, enough thickness.
"He's a really well-put-together bull," Mr Crowley added.
