A long-time exhibitor of Suffolks has taken home all four major champions in a clean sweep in the breed judging at the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter show on April 17.

A total of 22 exhibits were examined by judge Alistair Day, Allendale Studs, Bordertown, South Australia.

On her showing debut, Bowen 24-0425, exhibited by Bowen Suffolks, Millthorpe, was awarded grand champion ewe, rising from the milk-tooth shorn ewe with wool not exceeding 12 millimetres in length.

Mr Day said the ewe was magnificent ewe with enough frame.

"She's just so smart and so correct," he said.

"She has a lovely hindquarter, beautiful front end, she's a really terrific Suffolk ewe."

She won the top ribbon over stablemate Bowen 24-0464, who was awarded the reserve grand champion ribbon and was part of the winning pair of ewes, shorn, only showing milk teeth.

The grand champion ram was then awarded to Bowen 24-0410.

The winning ram originated from the ram showing milk teeth only.

Mr Day said the ram was a stand out.

"He's got a great sire's head; he is structurally very very sound, he particularly good in his hind let set up and nice bone," he said.

The reserve grand champion ram was awarded to Bowen 24-0346, who rose from the ram showing two teeth and over class.

Mr Day said the reserve grand champion ram was a big smooth made type, but just on the day the hind leg set up of the champion over the reserve champion.

Bowen stud principal Greg Good Millthorpe, said the two champion exhibits were the first of his new home-bred sire Bowen Jackie.

"He has bred extremely well," he said.

"He's a high-performance ram in lamb plan, so he's really good in his figures, and it's throwing through in his progeny as well, so not only is he a pretty handy ram, his progeny are too, so he's breeding on well."

Mr Good said this year was the ram's second breeding season and the stud was really happy with him.

Mr Good, who has been exhibiting at the show for 40 years, said the two broad ribbon winning rams would be on offer in his on-property sale later this year. He planned to retain the ewes within the stud.
