A NSW stud purchased the top female at the Silverdale Brahman Female Sale, which enjoyed an increased average, clearance and high price.

Held on Saturday, March 22, at the Hayes and Co Silverdale Saleyards, 51 Brahman females from 11 Brahman breeders across Queensland went under the hammer.

At the fall of the hammer, 33 of 51 females sold, achieving a clearance rate of 65 per cent and averaging $4136.

The results were up on last year's figures when 13 of 61 females sold to average $3980 and top at $6500.

Of the 27 red females offered in 2025, 20 were sold, achieving a 74pc clearance rate, $4200 average, with the sale and red top price reaching $12,000 for the first lot of the day, Halgenaes Virgine, which Peter Tuxworth offered from Halgenaes Brahmans, Oxley.

"It was a better clearance in general and a lot more positive than last year," he said.

He said his top-selling red heifer, Halgenaes Virgine, was from a great cow, Halgenaes Dienka, which had produced half a dozen IVF and natural-born calves for his stud.

Purchased by Diddine Brahmans, Grafton, NSW, the 12-month-old heifer was sired by Lindley Park Surat.

Virgine, an unjoined, poll scurred, AI product, was the half-sister of last year's top price female, Halgenaes 850, which sold for $6500 to Bruce Battis, Manny Springs, Sarina Range.

For the grey females, 13 out of 24 sold, giving a 54pc clearance rate.

The grey females averaged $4038, with the top price of $5750 for lot 53, Chriswil Geordie 1626, offered by Christopher Wilkes of Chriswill Brahmans, Milbong and purchased by A and M Logan, Yarraman.

Unjoined, Mr Wilkes said Geordie was sired by Brahrock Appollo 1675.

"It's very hard to part with this heifer, but we have a few half-sisters retained in our herd," he said.

In addition to the female lots, three Brahman cow and calf offerings sold for $4000 each.

These included Petrie Park Cintilah De Manso with her bull calf, offered by Petrie Park Brahmans and purchased by Brett Milne.

EJP Misty Morn with her heifer calf and EJP Emily with her heifer calf, both offered by EJP Brahmans and purchased by A and M Logan, Yarraman.

The Logan's from Yarraman were also the sale's top volume buyers, purchasing eight females at an average price of $3906.25.
