It might have been a summer's day at the Yasloc Poll Dorset 43rd ram sale on Friday, but it did not feel like it to attendees.

Heavy rain with a strong, cool wind blew through the Glen Innes sale barn ahead of the on-property ram sale.

Although weather conditions weren't pleasant, it didn't dampen spirits within the sale barn, with 118 from 149 Poll Dorset rams selling to a $1084 average.

The sale breakdown consisted of 93 from 110 two-tooth Poll Dorset rams selling to an average of $1093 and top of $2400 while 25 from 39 ram lambs sold to a $1050 average and $2200 top.

It was the first Yasloc sale conducted since the late passing of stud founder Colin Say, with now-son Andrew and grandson Nick Say taking on operations.

Results were back on last year, when 145 from 149 rams sold to a $1097 average.

More than 25 registered bidders attended the sale.

The top ram from the sale selling for $2400 went to first-time buyer Tom Piddington, Armidale.

"He will be joined over purebred White Suffolk ewes - we would like him to get across 50 ewes if we can," Mr Piddington said.

"He was a good-headed ram, clean pointed with plenty of carcase to back it up."

Volume buyer Bucknell Grazing, Inverell, purchased 14 rams to average $1200.

The sale was covered by Colin Say & Co, Glen Innes and Elders Guyra, with Shad Bailey and Myles Williams sharing the auctioneering duties.
