A high calibre 100-lot draft spanning 10 breeds has been catalogued for the Black Stump Invitation Bull Sale to be held at the Blackall Saleyards from 11am on Tuesday, March 18.

For what is considered Western Queensland's premier multivendor multibreed sale, nine returning vendors will offer 13 Angus, five Poll Hereford, six Braford, eight Brangus, 19 Charolais, 12 Charbray, 18 Simmental, two Simbrah, 16 Droughtmaster and one Charmaster.

Those offering drafts this year include: Mountain Valley Angus and Poll Herefords, Coolatai, New South Wales; Callaway Poll Herefords, Irvingdale; MCN Brafords, Bell; Strathgyle Brafords, Bell; Cobblegun Brangus; Glenmorgan; Mountview Charolais, Droughtmaster and Charmaster, Cambooya; Wattlebray Charbrays, Chinchilla; Meldon Park Simmentals and Simbrahs, Cecil Plains; and Rondel Droughtmasters, Winton.

GDL sale agent Mark Duthie said as Black Stump was an invitation sale, only the best of the best make it into the catalogue.

"Across the breeds, there are consistent, even lines throughout the draft. This is one of the best Black Stump drafts assembled to date," Mr Duthie said.

This consistency of quality was evidenced by Black Stump ranking 17th in the list of the top 30 multivendor bull sales held in 2024 compiled by Australian Community Media.

In all, 77 of the 93 bulls offered in 2024 sold for a clearance rate of 83 per cent, a top price of $22,000, and an overall gross of $663,000 at an average of $8610.

For last year's sale, bid cards were filled in by prospective buyers from across Queensland and down into the southern states.

Those who're unable to attend this year's sale in person can snag a bull from home by utilising the Stocklive online bidding platform.

Many of the bulls selected for this year's sale will be available for inspection at the Blackall Saleyards on the weekend of March 15 to 16, with all lots guaranteed to be yarded by March 17.

The 2025 Black Stump Invitation Bull Sale catalogue can be viewed via the GDL website or Stocklive.
