Canberra Royal 2025: Dolly's Dream charity steer auctioned for mental health

Pure generosity was shown during the Dolly's Dream Charity Steer auction at the Royal Canberra Show on Saturday with breeders buying back the steer.
A 16-month-old Lowline steer offered by Cann Valley Cattle Company, Lemnos,Vic, was centre-stage while being auctioned for $2200, with all proceeds being donated to the Dolly's Dream Foundation.
The steer weighed 459 kilograms and placed third in a class of 10 steers just two days before in the trade steer judging under the eyes of Adam Macrae, Coonamble and Jack Taylor, Dubbo.
U R Enough was auctioned by Angus Lee, The Riverina Anglican College, Wagga Wagga, being purchased by a syndicate of Matt Cooney himself, Jess Muscat, Muscateer Valley Lowlines, Caveat, Vic and Daryl Holder, The Canberra Show Cattle Commitee.
Mr Cooney said when donating the steer he wanted to give back to the foundation.
"It's got a really good reasoning behind it and they do a lot of really good work, especially in the agriculture industry because sometimes it's not really heard about," he said.
"Mental health in agriculture is sometimes forgotten about, so it's really important, and I wanted to donate the steer to support that."
Dolly's Dream is committed to changing the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families.
