Potential Show Steer sale has grand champion legacy

If you're looking to lead your way to the top place of the show ring, then it's time to study the catalogue for the upcoming Colin Say & Co Potential Show Steer Sale.
Celebrating 16 years of the sale, Colin Say & Co livestock agent, Shad Bailey said it continues to grow each year, along with the high calibre of show cattle offered by their loyal vendors.
Come along to the Glen Innes Show Grounds, Monday, March 3, where a sale draft of 40 specially selected steers and heifers will be offered, it's an opportunity not to be missed, with a sale legacy of past graduates going on to claim broad ribbon sashes and successes in hoof and hook competitions. In 2024, two sale graduates claimed Grand Champion at the Ekka and the Beef Extravaganza.
"We are great believers in the sale concept, with exciting incentives and prize money up for the Beef Extravaganza later in September, it provides opportunities for both open and junior competitors within the circuit to secure quality show prospects," Mr Bailey said.
Alsace Limousin stud at Inverell has now been a vendor for four years, this year they will offer four sale lots of purebred registered Limousin steers, including three black steers and one apricot steer.

Alsace Limousins, John Devlin said their operation is family-run with his parents and brother Miles Devlin. The twin brothers are the third-generation of the Devlin family to breed stud cattle and the pair have grown up dabbling in the cattle show circuit. Their stud consists of 70 registered females along with a commercial herd.
"Colin Say & Co are leaders in the show steer market and we are proud to offer four purebred stud registered Limousins calves in this year's sale. The calves are well muscled, showing strong weight for age and have great temperaments, the calves have also been halter broken to suit buyers for schools and junior competitors," Mr Devlin said.
"We believe the Limousins are the pinnacle of a show steer, their muscle expression, carcase quality and temperament are just some of the reasons we chose the breed for our stud breeding and steer operation," he said.
The Devlin brothers are very passionate about the Colin Say & Co Potential Show Steer sale, as well as the incentives and opportunities it provides at the Colin Say & Co Beef Extravaganza. This year the Beef Extravaganza will take place at the Glen Innes Showgrounds from Friday, September 12 to Sunday, September 14.
"We both have young families and we can only hope that our children grow up to love breeding and showing quality cattle as much as we do. It's a lot of fun for us and it's about doing it together as a family," he said.
