An 11-month-old Fleckvieh heifer has started her show career with a bang taking home the top title for the breed at the 2025 Royal Canberra Show during her showing debut.

Stone Ridge Victoria, exhibited by Stone Ridge Livestock, Eumungerie, rose above 13 other exhibits for supreme Fleckvieh under judge David Bolton, Shepparton, including the senior champion female Wondenia Pizzaz, a six-year-old female exhibited by Country Sand and Concrete, Gilgandra.

The young female was one of the first progeny of a new sire for the stud, owners Mel and Edward Webb said she found her straps in the last few months.

"We didn't expect that win, it's pretty cool," Mrs Webb said.

"We tried out some new semen from Willandra Ranger.

"She wasn't much of a heifer and we never really considered her as a show heifer and then a couple of months ago she just caught our eye.

"We were planning on selling her but she might stay at this rate."

Mr Bolton said the heifer was very sound and sweet right through with lovely udder development for such a young female.

"She's beautiful right down through her thigh, strong topped and has a lovely navel," Mr Bolton said.

The young female came up against the grand champion bull Tennysonvale Unraffled, exhibited by Tennysonvale Simmentals and Felckviehs, Illabo, for the supreme ribbon.

Earlier in the day the 19 month-old bull sired by Tennysonvale Kip, and out of Coolaroy Kalamity, was named junior and grand champion bull, weighing 696 kilograms.

Mr Bolton said the champion bull was made a little longer and smoother through his front end than his reserve champion, Stone Ridge Von Dutch, exhibited by Stone Ridge Livestock, Eumengerie.

"He just steps out nice when he gets rolling," Mr Bolton said.

"He's very attractive to look at, deep-sided, unbelievable reproduction set up, and it was that little more scale than my reserve."
