Abelene Park Poll Dorsets in hot demand

The Douglas family of Abelene Park Poll Dorset achieved what was a "tremendous result" according to stud principal Marshall Douglas at their annual autumn ram sale on Thursday.
The Woolomin stud cleared all Poll Dorset rams and ewes offered within the sale.
All 44 Poll Dorset rams sold to a top of $3800 and an average of $1504.
Midway through the sale, six from nine White Suffolk rams sold to a top of $1900 for an $1100 average.
To finish the sale, all 10 Poll Dorset stud ewes sold to an $900 top and $790 average.
The on-property sale saw over 25 registered bidders with at least 19 buyers purchasing at least one ram from the sale.
Results were significantly up on last year's autumn sale, where 26 from 45 rams sold to a $1026 average.
Repeat top-priced buyer from last year, James Gilmore, White Gold Poll Dorset in Inverell, again purchased the top ram on the day for $3800.
The two-year-old ram weighed in at 136 kilograms and kicked the sale off to a flying start being the first ram under the hammer.
Mr Gilmore paid $3000 for last year's sale topping ram.
Elbrook Grazing, Walcha, purchased six rams to average $1650.
Donggala Pastoral Company, Somerton, also bought six rams to an $1833 average.
Local buyer RM and PL Wright, Tamworth, purchased seven rams to a $1614 average.
