Inaugural Brangus sale postponed during severe flooding

Flooded roads in and out of Charters Towers has pushed back the inaugural Triple B Brangus Northern Production Sale to keep producers and animals safe during extreme weather.
Triple B stud principal Lindsay Barlow, Dingo said after consulting with livestock agents given the recent weather, a decision had been made to postpone the sale by a fortnight to February 28.
The sale was due to take place on February 14.
"It's just inevitable. The roads are cut and nobody can get in or out," Mr Barlow said.
"It's better for everyone and for the animals."
Sixty-five Brangus bulls are expected to go under the hammer with the sale kicking off at 10am at the Dalrymple Saleyards, Charters Towers.
"We'll see how we go. I think most people will be fairly appreciative that it's been put back," Mr Barlow said.
"We couldn't get in and nobody can get out. The road is cut at Cape River and there is continuous flooding to the north [of Charters Towers]."
Triple B was founded in 1990 with the enrollment of 100 females by Robert, Elaine and Lindsay Barlow.
The stud has since grown to one of the country's largest purebred registered Brangus herds.
