Nutrien Classic horse sale cracks six figures as day one comes to a close

Reldas Anaconda, by Hazelwood Conman, was passed in but was then sold privately to Atkins Cattle Company, Taroom, Qld.

The 2025 Nutrien Classic has cracked six figures on the first day of the sale.

The opening lots drew some good demand but it was lot 129, Halosprings Rhema, that posted the impressive sale price of $130,000.

The three-year-old mare was exhibited by Tsidkenu Pty Ltd, Gayndah, Qld.

By Boonara Gigolo and out of Rogans Julia, she sold to Greg and Andrea Lithgow of Toowoomba, Qld.

The mare's full brother topped the gelding portion of the catalogue at last year's sale, selling for $92,500.

Another late sale was Tuff Player, a four-year-old mare by Tuff Lova from Hardly Playin, who sold for $90,000 to Ralco Holdings, Pentland, Qld.

She was exhibited by Matt Caban Farrier Services of Scone.

Other notable sales from day one included Reldas Anaconda, by Hazelwood Conman from Tejano Spin 02.

The five-year-old mare was passed in for $70,000 but later sold privately for $75,000 to Atkins Cattle Company, Taroom, Qld.

She was exhibited by Wayne Woods Pty Ltd, Connewarre, Vic.

Willdraft Biscuit, by Acres Destiny from Dual Ray Biscuit 02, sold for $52,500 to Macaroni Contractors Pty Ltd, Cloncurry, Qld.

The 2019 gelding was exhibited by Glazendawn Pty Ltd, Wallumbilla, Qld.

Toomba Della, a three-year-old mare exhibited by JL and HE Heading, Charters Towers, Qld, sold for $51,000 to Scott and Lizette McCamley, Dululu, Qld.

R and A Linneth, Tansey, Qld, paid $45,000 for the three-year-old gelding Too Tuff, exhibited by Mark and Joanne Smith, Allora, Qld.

He was by Aristo Tuff and from Cat with a Tude.

Another $45,000 sale was Luckenough Addition, exhibited by Koomalah Pastoral Company, Dirranbandi, Qld.

The two-year-old mare, by Luckenough Harley and out of Luckenough Topic, sold to Corbould Oakdene Pty Ltd, Ramsay, Qld.

Gina Drew, Mt Mee, Qld, also paid $45,000 for Tiny Talking Dancer, a two-year-old filly exhibited by Claire Murphy, Mount Isa, Qld.

She was by Smooth Talking Style out of Metallic Dancer.

Amandas Hott, a four-year-old mare by His Stargun is Hot from Heavens Pink Dually, sold for $45,000 to Wyuna Trust.

She was exhibited by Jason and Rachel Leitch, Springsure, Qld.

Ben and Rae Hill, Thallon, Qld, paid $40,000 for the three-year-old mare, Wundarra Sahara. She was exhibited by Gunnedah's Wundurra Stud and was by Amac Drydust from Todds Tiger Lillie.

Dalblair Cloud Nine was another $40,000 sale, purchased by Rod and Helen Fordham.

The three-year-old mare, by Metallic Storm from Woodridge Mallory, was exhibited by Austen Elias Contracting Services, Winton.

Koonamara Spoonful Cat, a four-year-old mare by Cat N Hat and from Koonamara Justa Spoonfull, sold for $40,000 to Debra Lucas, Beaudesert, Qld.

She was exhibited by Jospeh Maher, Allora, Qld.

Rob Leach Equine, Attunga, sold Arlee Wonder Woman, by Hazelwood Congressman and out of Tamarang Oaks Midnight Wonder, for $37,500 after the three-year-old mare was passed in for $35,000.

The buyer was Lisa McKinlay.

Bingley Pumpkin, a two year old mare exhibited by Tamworth's Dan Steers, was another $37,500 sale. By One Stylish Pepto 02 and from Almora Double Embrace, she was bought by BV and B Comiskey,Yamala, Qld.

Mitch N About Bardoc, exhibited by PJ and BM Newman, Glen Innes, sold for $35,000 to Jim Lyons Agency, Kingswood.

There are 616 lots catalogued across the four day event, with lots 156 to 335 set to sell on Friday.
