Eleven registered Charolais studs located along Australia's eastern seaboard have purchased cattle at Allednaw Charolais' second on-property female production sale.

The Kerang stud recorded a clearance of 27 of 26 lots on Saturday with a sale average of $5066, while a further four lots knocked down after the sale.

The operation, run by Sam Taylor, his father Dennis, and uncle Adam, comprises 150 breeders and sells more than 20 bulls into Queensland each year.

The sale was supported by a range of buyers across most Australian states, with a mix of live and genetic lots offered at the second female production sale.

Sam Taylor said many buyers who purchased cattle at the stud's first female sale in 2018 returned to secure similar genetics.

"We're reasonably happy with the result given that demand for female cattle is not as strong due to the seasonal conditions everywhere," he said.

"It's been a pretty ordinary year, but we are lucky to have irrigation which helped present the cattle as well as we could."

The top-priced cow was the first lot of the sale, Allednaw Dappo Q16 (P), and was purchased by Tyson and Courtney Will, TCW Livestock, Delungra, NSW, for $9000.

The Wills purchased the cow online after inspecting videos of her and her bull calf at foot taken by their agent Jordan Arthur, QPL Livestock, Temora, NSW.

"I liked the bull calf on the cow and we've been looking for a bull this year, and because I like the sire he was by, I thought he could be a good future sire for us," Mr Will said.

"When you have a good cow behind a good bull calf, that is a big plus and something we really look at when we go to these sales."

The calf was sired by Silverstream National, the same bull that provided the top-priced semen straws at the Kerang sale.

The cow will be entered into an IVF program in 2025, Mr Will said.

The second top-priced cow was Lot 8, Allednaw Brie N60 (P), which was knocked down to Victorian buyers Murray Van Der Drift and Erin Ferguson, Golden Rose Charolais, Macorna, for $8500.

Lot 4 was the third highest-price cow in the sale with Allednaw Chloe R11 (P) purchased by Elridge Charolais, Gympie, Qld, for $7500.

Meanwhile, the top-priced bull was Lot 38, Allednaw Son Of A Gun (P), which was bought by Matthew Joseph, Cavally Charolais, Goulburn, NSW, for $7000.

J & G Weeks, Warilla Charolais, Echuca, bought two heifers in the sale for $3000.

Buyers from Queensland and NSW topped the volume buyers' list, with Ryan and Rachel Holzwart, Bauhinia Park Charolais, Emerald, Qld, purchasing five cows with calves at foot.

The Holzwarts paid $4500 for the five lots.

"We run a Charolais stud in central Queensland and are always looking to add some quality genetics to our stud," he said.

"We've always appreciated the look of the Allednaw cattle in the photos, and while we didn't intend to buy that many, we're confident they will perform up here for us and bring a bit to the stud."

The cows will be joined to Bauhinia Park's stud herd which comprises 200 Charolais breeding females.

The four bull calves will be entered into the stud's program, while the single heifer calf will be retained as a future breeder.

Tony Farrell, Calmview Charolais, Backmede, NSW, bought three lots at the on-property sale.

Embryos sold to a top price of $1550 for Lot 39, Silverstream Frampton/Silverstream Wendy H163, which was bought by Gavin Russell, Callanish Farms, Donnybrook, WA, while semen topped at $220 a straw for Lot 46, Silverstream National, selling to Mitchell Lollback, Allora, QLD.
