The "Problem Solver" of Sydney Royal: Truro Van Gogh V113 Takes the Crown
The energy at the Sydney Royal Easter Show is always electric, but this year, one name was on everyone’s lips: Truro Van Gogh V113.
After a day of stiff competition and meticulous judging, Van Gogh rose above the rest to be named Grand Champion Bull and Supreme Hereford Exhibit. We caught up with the team behind the champion to talk about the "pinnacle" win, the secret to his success, and a rather spirited pre-show ritual.
A Pinnacle Win
Winning Grand Champion at Sydney Royal is no small feat—it’s widely considered one of the pinnacle shows in Australia. For the team behind Van Gogh, the gravity of the win wasn't lost on them.
"It feels amazing to win Sydney. It’s one of the pinnacle shows in Australia, so it's very special to win here."
A Masterpiece of Pedigree
Every now and then, a bull comes along that simply commands the ring. Truro Van Gogh V113 is a perfect storm of genetics and physical presence. When we asked what makes him so special, the team pointed to a consistent track record: "The bull is obviously pretty good; the pedigree and performance have always been very good!" Prior to his Sydney victory, Van Gogh had already carved out a reputation as "unbeaten" in the show ring, taking home Supreme honors at both the Guyra and Inverell shows.

What’s Next for Van Gogh?
If you missed him in Sydney, you have one more chance to see this champion in action before he finds a new home. The team is preparing to take him north for his next outing at the Brisbane Show (EKKA) in early August.
The Secret to Success? (The "Problem Solver")
While many exhibitors focus strictly on grooming and feed, the Truro team has a slightly more "spirited" approach to calm the nerves. When asked about their pre-show ritual, they let us in on a legendary local secret:
"Probably shouldn’t say, but what the hell—we have an amazing lady friend who does home brew. She makes me a butterscotch schnapps that is divine; it’s called ‘The Problem Solver.’ A shot of that just prior to showing is our little ritual!"
Whether it’s the "Problem Solver" or the world-class genetics, it’s clearly a winning formula. Congratulations to the team on a massive win!
Don't miss Truro Van Gogh V113 at the Brisbane Show, and be sure to be in Bellata on August 24 for your chance to own a piece of Hereford history!
