Move to More Campaign Launches

Federal government encourages regional living via the Move to More campaign

Early mornings watching the sunrise, quiet afternoons with the family, vast stretches of land untouched by houses – there’s so much to enjoy about life outside the city, and the Australian government wants everyone to know it.

‘Move to More’ is a new national campaign created by the Regional Australia Institute (RAI) and funded by the federal government. The campaign, into which $5 million was invested, is a multi-platform venture and includes a website encouraging people to move from metropolitan to regional areas.

Outside the digital world, the campaign aims to promote its message through TV commercials, print ads, billboards, and digital marketing. These advertisements will be displayed across major cities all over the country, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

Research showing that 1 in 5 city-dwellers are interested in moving to regional Australia, largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the tight restrictions it has brought about in major Australian cities. This phenomenon has been the driving factor for a greater focus on regional living, and was also the impetus for a similar site, GoRegional

GoRegional was launched a few months prior to the government-funded Move to More website, and is already receiving rave reviews. It has been commended for its strong editorial content and as a repository of all the information needed to help people make the move to rural Australia.

The site is largely focused on regional real estate, and features thousands of properties for rent and sale across Australia. However, viewers can also view data on Australia's 55 regions and more than 500 Local Government Areas, including information on local schools and jobs, demographic and economic data, and property sales data. And through a recent partnership with Seek, GoRegional now also lists more than 70,000 regional Australian job opportunities every month.

As advocates of the joys of country living, Farmbuy is excited about the spike in interest in regional Australia that has occurred recently and optimistic that these new sites will help people across Australia find their perfect home in the country. As Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack stated during the Move to More campaign launch, “the opportunities are limitless. The opportunities are there. The opportunities are right now awaiting those people, those punters, those opportunists, those believers who want to go to regional Australia.”
