David Thornberry
About David Thornberry
With over 25 years’ hands-on experience managing and developing pastoral operations, David Thornberry is a name trusted across the Western Downs. Now part of the Elders Dalby team, David applies a lifetime of practical knowledge to help clients navigate the complexities of rural property transactions with confidence and clarity.
David’s career has taken him from Central Queensland to the Barkly Tableland, managing some of Australia’s largest cattle stations. He has overseen everything from property redevelopment and pasture improvement to livestock performance, infrastructure planning, and stakeholder engagement, including working closely with landowners, contractors, and industry bodies. These roles have given him a keen eye for identifying land value and a strategic mindset for long-term rural investment.
Clients appreciate David’s no-nonsense approach and the depth of his insight. He understands how land capability, water security, fencing, access, and production potential influence value, not just today, but in the years ahead. His background means he can speak the same language as his clients, whether they’re generational graziers, corporate investors, or first-time rural buyers.
Having already spent time within the Elders network through Eastern Rural, David brings strong alignment with the values that define Elders: local knowledge, national support, and a genuine commitment to rural communities. Based in Bell and serving Dalby and surrounding districts, he is passionate about helping people make informed decisions about their most valuable asset—the land.
