Charles Stewart and Company commenced business in August 1917 on the same site where the company’s head office is still located today at 56 – 60 Bromfield Street, Colac. At the time the firm began, Mr Charles Stewart was a well-known and respected judge of livestock and real estate in the region.
In November 2023, the company was sold to Elders Rural Services, but continues to be managed by the fourth-generation Stewart family, who uphold the same values of honesty and professionalism that Charles Stewart was known and respected for when he founded the business in 1917. The company now has offices in Camperdown, Geelong, Ballarat, Warrnambool and Hamilton.

Charles Stewart & Co. has livestock agents available to assist in marketing all livestock. The company conducts regular weekly livestock sales at Mortlake, Colac, Camperdown and Ballarat selling centres, and periodic special sales at the saleyards and other sites. The livestock sales team are proficient at arranging on-farm and online livestock sales. Charles Stewart & Co. regularly organise sales by auction or direct, and can arrange livestock advertising for sale online and in newspapers.
