Canton located in the Big Springs district, at the headwaters of O'Briens Creek, offers grazing scale within 40km of the regional city of Wagga Wagga.
The land area comprises 1108.9 hectares (2,740 acres), the property comprises pastures with a clover base and some phalaris, the balance being native grass species and timbered grazing.
The vendors have held Canton since 1950, originally running 200 cows and 800 ewes, plus fodder production. These days they are running a beef cattle operation of 260 cows & calves. The holding is suited to producing prime lambs, wool, grazing and fodder crops.
Well-watered with, double frontage to O'Brien's creek and a network of 19 well sited dams. A dam supplies troughs around the infrastructure and there are 2 rainwater tanks on the sheds in this 650mm rainfall district.
The holding is timbered with kurrajong, yellow, grey and red box, red gum and other gum species, stringybark, ironbark and pine, the gums have done well in the watercourses. Soils are a mix of red and grey loams over clay and decomposed granite, with granite outcrops.
Farming infrastructure includes steel cattle yards with rotary force, RPM crush and loading ramp, a 2-stand wool shed with steel yards. Shedding includes steel hayshed 60x40 with high clearance, machinery shed 60x40 with two skillions and power connected. As new two bay colour bond shed with cement floor, power connected and amenities room. For grain storage there are 3 Kotzur self-emptying silos with a combined capacity of 135t and a 100t flat bottom silo.
